Sex Does a Body Good

According to the experts, the answer is a resounding yes, but the problem is a lot of us just aren't doing it. It is estimated that a staggering 40 million Americans are living in sexless marriages and are having sex less than ten times per year. On average most Americans are only having sex once a week. Just doubling that number to two times a week, could add three years to our lives. For optimal health, three times a week is suggested, but there is a catch, the sex has to be meaningful to produce the desired benefits. Casual sex doesn't count. It has to be with someone you actually have feelings for. Would you have more sex if you knew all of the ways it could enhance your life? Don't answer that questions until you've read the following five benefits:
Sex Does A Body Good
1. Sex Increases Energy - Studies show that men and women who have sex three times a week or more experience the energy of someone eight years younger.
2. Sex Burns Calories - Thirty minutes of sex can burn 85 calories or more. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but multiply that number by three and you've burned 255 calories and you're not on a treadmill or in a cardio class.
3. Sex Boosts Immunity - Having sex twice a week has been shown to increase antibodies that protect the body from colds and other infections. Men who have sex twice a week decrease their chance of having a heart attack by a whopping 50 percent.
4. Sex Relieves Stress - Researcher from Scotland found that one of the biggest benefits of frequent sex is lower blood pressure and stress reduction. They subjected the participants to stressful situations and those that had frequent sex responded better and had lower blood pressure numbers.
5. Sex Reduces Pain - I guess I should preface this one with the word "good." When we have orgasms, our brains produce what scientists call the "love hormone" or oxytocin. As oxytocin surges, endorphins increase, and pain declines.
These are just some of the benefits having more sex can have on your overall health and life, but if you're like me you're probably asking how you can fit more sex into your already overly busy schedule. I'm a strong believer in the statement "we all find the time to do the things we want to do." Although it may not be easy to find the time to add more sex to your life, it will definitely be worth it. Make having sex a priority. Despite what you may have heard, planning sexual encounters doesn't have to turn the sex into a boring, mundane task. In fact planning can actually increase your level of excitement because it gives you a chance to anticipate everything that's going to happen, which can lead to a more pleasurable experience. If you needed a reason to add more sex to your life, the above five reasons can be your starting point. Sex not only feels good, but as you can see, it's really good for your overall health. Put the kids to bed early, turn off the TV, shut down the computer, turn off the cell phones, and start adding more sex and more years to your life today.
